Brooke succeeded to the peerage shortly before matriculating at University College, Oxford. He died of a fever less than six months later, whereupon the barony descended to his younger brother William Greville.2 During his brief tenure of the peerage, control of the Greville interest was presumably overseen by his father’s executors.
